Founded in Ballinasloe, Galway, in 1937, Dubarry of Ireland started as a joint venture between the local Chamber of Commerce and a family from Northampton, who chose the company’s European-style name to distinguish their brand from other Irish shoemakers.

Throughout the 20th century, Dubarry focused solely on footwear before branching out into clothing in the early 2000s. Throughout this period, they released their famous NonSlip-NonMarking™ deck sole shoe and the Shamrock 2000, the world’s first performance sailing boots made with GORE-TEX technology.
