When my father started out in business as 'The Countyman's Outfitter', some fifty years ago, the first item he stocked was a Keepers Tweed County Jacket, worn with cavalry twill trousers and a tattersall checked shirt, it was a real icon for the country gent. The original weaving mill at Holme in West Yorkshire has now closed, but the 32oz (900g) fabric still continues and is now woven on the Scottish borders. A tight heavy duty weave originally used by Gamekeepers hundreds of years ago, was seized upon by horse men and women who spent long hours in the saddle in all weathers. To this day riding folk still wear the tweed for all its qualities, Brocklehursts have traditionally designed this jacket to allow you to ride or wear as a country lifestyle piece. The top button comes a little higher to allow your tie or stock to keep in place when galloping across the countryside. Hard wearing, comfortable and lasts a lifetime!
