The Last Big Show of the Season

Not sure how we’ve got here so quickly but it’s the last big event of the season – Burghley Horse Trials. Started back in 1961, today Burghley is in the top 10 of the UK’s most attended sporting events – and to use an old cliché our favourite. Brocklehursts have had a stand at Burghley since the 1970’s, when my Father was invited to attend. Back then he had one small lorry and an equally small team. To give you an idea of how times have changed, today it takes... Read More

Great Yorkshire Show

We’re at the halfway point in our show calendar and the next stop is one of our favourites – the Great Yorkshire Show. My Father first attended the Great Yorkshire Show back in the late sixties and we’ve been going ever since, with the exception of the Foot & Mouth outbreak in 2001 and, of course, Covid. Originally held over three days, the Great Yorkshire is now a four-day event – cementing its position as the premier agricultural show. The Great Yorkshire Show holds some very fond memories and the... Read More

We’re heading East!

This Sunday the advanced party will be setting off for the Lincolnshire Showground, to set up our stand for the Lincolnshire Show, with the rest of the team following a few days later. The Lincolnshire Show holds special memories for us here at Brocklehursts. It’s another show that we first attended as my father visited many farmers in the area. There’s also another reason why we really enjoy the Lincolnshire Show – the Red Arrows are stationed down the road and we get to see them practice as we’re setting... Read More

South of England Stand Number H1 08/06/2022

We’re Venturing Down South

We’re off on our longest journey of the show season this week, to the South of England showground at Ardingly, West Sussex. Destination the South of England Show:  Friday 10th – Sunday 12th June. It’s a long drive but it doesn’t take anywhere near the time it took on our first venture to the South of England Show back in 1970. In those days, my father had an ex-army K9 with a maximum speed of 45 mph and there was no such thing as the M25, so he had to... Read More
